Whittlesey, Theed and Roupell Streets, Cornwall Road and Hatfields are all suffering from rat-running traffic because of Lambeth and TfL’s changes to The Cut and the Stamford St junction with Blackfriars Road. Google Maps and other navigation apps now send vans, taxis, cars and even larger vehicles down these narrow residential streets. Already this is often significant and it is likely to get worse.
Sign this petition to get the Council to consult on a Traffic Management Order (TMO) for ‘Local Traffic Only’ signs at the entrances of Alaska and Exton Streets from Waterloo Road. This TMO will require navigation apps to direct traffic along the main roads and not through this area. Residents, friends and deliveries will still be able to come in, but this should significantly reduce vehicles just using the streets to pass through. LERA, the residents’ association for the Roupell Street Conservation Area, is offering the Council funds to help pay for this very simple change, which will benefit all who live, work or walk through these streets.
This campaign, organised by LERA (Lambeth Estate Residents’ Association), is being hosted on a petition system managed by Cllr Ibrahim Dogus. While he will receive your information as a local councillor, he will only use it in connection with the campaign and share it with LERA.
